Though Times are Uncertain – Our Commitment to Your Children is Not.
At HSHMC, nothing is more important than the health and safety of San Diego's students. We're ready to provide quality education, whether it be in our home or yours.
The Path to Success Starts Here.
Health Sciences High & Middle College is a different kind of public high school in San Diego – a place where students receive a first-rate education, real-world experience, and the tools to succeed – all in a safe and supportive environment.
As a charter high school, HSHMC is open to all San Diego County residents, and always free of charge.
Students are prepared for the challenges of tomorrow, through advanced and rigorous coursework with an emphasis on the health sciences.
Real World Experience
Our internship program teams up students with dedicated mentors, identifying a pathway to their future with hands-on experience.
Innovation in the Classroom
Through a cutting-edge blended learning program, students utilize digital and online resources to customize the education to the students needs.
By partnering with stellar organizations like Sharp HealthCare, we give students so much more than a foot in the door – we give them a glimpse into a bright future.
Through close connections with all local community colleges, students have access to college credit, while pursuing a high school diploma.
A Home Away from Home
By nurturing a warm, caring and safe environment, students are encouraged to grow and develop into strong, confident adults.

Hours of real-world experience
I love HSHMC. Their education system is based on ideals of allowing students the true opportunity to learn instead of just memorizing for a grade, through supporting and guiding students to stay on the path to success, all while administering vital collegiate credits to help with tuition payments in the future. Because of the teachers, staff and students combined, I believe in a bigger and brighter future.

I feel like here I have the opportunity many students don’t have. It’s very welcoming…it feels like a safe environment for me to be myself. I have enjoyed my four years here and I’m sad to say that I’m leaving, but excited to see what the future holds.
– Eric Perez | Class of ‘16
This is the best school in the universe because there’s so much opportunity and you choose what you want to do. I want to become a heart surgeon. They’re always there to help you out no matter what. The environment here is very safe.
